JULY: TOP THINGS TO DO AT CRYSTAL

Events are back for peak summer fun

Written By: Emma Brice

Summer is here and it’s time to hit the hill! Just because ski season is over doesn’t mean we don’t have a variety of activities to choose from. Along with our scenic gondola rides, mountaintop dining, and hiking, we’ve got a long lineup of upcoming events for the whole family to enjoy. From Mountain Clean-up to Mtn Art, July is filled with summer fun. Read on for the top July events you don’t want to miss.

MOUNTAIN CLEAN-UP- JULY 8th

Spend the day doing your part to keep Crystal Mountain beautiful for generations to come. July 8th from 10am to 3pm, participants will be assigned a clean-up zone to seek out tiny pieces of trash and recyclables that have yet to be discovered. Join us for a day of environmental stewardship and help us give back to the land that gives us so much year after year. Participants will receive a trash bag and trail snacks and will spend the day hiking the trails of Crystal Mountain, soaking in the beauty of the terrain. After the clean-up is complete, enjoy the afternoon on the sun deck with food and prizes, and a free ride up the Mount Rainier Gondola. Prizes will be awarded for the most unique find, most fabulous find, most ridiculous find, and most trash collected. Pre-registration is required for this event and is limited to 100 total participants. Bring your friends and family and help us keep our mountain pristine!

MTN ART- JULY 29th

Local artist, Claire Giordano, is making an appearance at Crystal Mountain for an outdoor painting adventure. Learn the basics of watercolor and how to capture the detail of a mountain landscape while being immersed in the beauty of the Cascades in this three-hour long, small group class. Take a ride up the scenic gondola to an alpine meadow or high mountain ridgeline and learn to paint outside. Claire will share her favorite techniques and will show a step-by-step demo for the class. All levels are welcome!

TRAIL FEST- JULY 30th

Here’s your chance to increase your outdoor survival skills and meet new friends in a safe and fun outdoor space! July 30th, join us for a summit to base-area trail adventure where you will start your day at the base learning about Leave No Trace principals and the 10 essentials. Then, take a ride up the scenic gondola to the summit for 360-degree views of Mount Rainier and surrounding Cascades. From there, you will hike down the Crystal Mountain trail to the adventure stations set up along the route. Each station will teach you a new outdoor skill, provide you with a challenge to solve, and award you with a prize. Finish the day with a party at the base with food, music, and raffle drawing!

If you are unable to make an event this month, there are still a variety of activities to choose from at Crystal Mountain. We are open seven days a week for scenic gondola rides, hiking, mountaintop dining, and more! Leashed dogs are also welcome to join the family for summer fun on the mountain. Check out Crystal’s Pet Friendly Hikes for inspiration. We hope to see you on the mountain!
